So excited to finally release New Classics Studios' latest editorial and collaboration with Canadian label Malorie Urbanovitch. Eric and I have spent a lot of hours on this project, so it feels incredible to finally be able to share it with all of you. As always, a big thanks goes out to everyone who helped make this collaboration possible!

One of my favourite collections at New Classics Studios arrived last week, so we invited Kendall to come play dress-up while Eric and I tried our best not to lose our cameras in the wind.

SHELLYS LONDON SS15 HAS JUST TOUCHED DOWN, WHICH MEANS I'M FINALLY ALLOWED TO SHARE THE RESULTS OF MY TRIP TO MONTREAL LAST YEAR. CLICK BELOW TO ALSO VIEW PART 1 OF SHELLYS' SS15 VIDEO CAMPAIGN, IN WHICH I DESPERATELY TRY NOT TO LAUGH IN FRONT OF A VERY SERIOUS-LOOKING CAMERA.

IT'S KIND OF SURPRISING HOW MUCH YOU CAN DO WITH A CHAIR DURING A PHOTOSHOOT--I MEAN, JUST THINK OF ALL THE WAYS YOU CAN SIT. ANYWAY, THERE ARE GOING TO BE SOME NEW/CRAZY/RAD/EXCITING THINGS COMING TO NEW CLASSICS STUDIOS
IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. BUT FOR NOW, CHECK OUT SOME OF MY FAVOURITE FW14 PIECES BELOW.
It's been a whole week since I've last posted, and while a part of me wants to collapse in the corner of a room and sleep for 24 hours, the other part of me knows that this is the time to grind. Three days ago, I launched New Classics Studios, which, if you haven't yet heard, is an e-commerce project Eric and I decided to tackle 5 months ago. For those of you who don't know, New Classics Studios is what I like to call a carefully curated selection of sustainable and fair trade fashion designers and labels who are changing the fashion industry one garment at a time. If you're interested in reading more about who we are and how we started, you can head over here and here. Anyway, enough chit chat. Here are a few of the photos to Eric and I took of a friend and fellow lab-mate, Pola. Shop the looks below.

| Two months ago, I made a very heavy decision and told Eric over Facebook Messenger that I couldn't imagine myself as a Biochemistry graduate student. In fact, I dreaded the thought of it. For much of my life, I've only imagined the future me as either an: a) doctor, b) doctor, or c) doctor. And although I've kept my previous aspirations to myself, it's a little weird and definitely unexpected by my family that I deviate from this path. Long story short, two months ago I did the scariest thing in my life by deciding against a professional career. And I've never been as excited for the future as I am now. For some time now, Eric has been telling me to open an e-commerce store. And as stereotypical as it seems to me (a blogger opening an online store? Gasp. Unheard of!), I finally gave in and decided to actually do it. Meet New Classics Studios, my brainchild (2/3s of my brain, 1/3 of Eric's) and soon-to-launch women's sustainable and ethical fashion e-retailer. Combining my respect for the environment (EAS anyone?) and the very people who inhabit it with an aversion towards low quality and landfill-destined clothing (a.k.a. the very spawn of the modern day fast fashion industry), I wanted to create something that could positively impact the earth. So, I've attempted to curate some of the best sustainable and fair trade fashion labels/designers from around the world. After all, is an $8 shirt really worth all that social and environmental damage? Rhetorical question: its not. And while there's still plenty of time until New Classics Studios launches in October (don't worry, we ship worldwide!), I couldn't wait to share this news and a little sneak peek of the clothing with you. I can only hope that you're as excited about this as I am! |
