A lot of the time I spend in my closet is spent trying on different pieces in the weirdest ways possible so I can discover new ways to wear old things. And as of late, I've been trying to find novel ways of converting my dresses into tops (because, well, it's winter and leggings just don't cut it anymore), resulting in this black and white photo series I took with my tripod a few weeks ago. Urban Outfitters

A few weeks ago, Urban Outfitters asked Eric and I to shoot a couple photos for their blog, to which I replied with an overwhelming amount of mental exclamation marks and cries of disbelief. I mean, it was only six years ago that my friends and I would take the 4 bus to West Edmonton Mall and spend hours cooped up in Urban Outfitters, rifting through every single item in the store while trying to will everything into our wardrobes (now we have cars, so the 4 bus is out of the picture). When people ask me what I imagine myself to be like when in ten years, I imagine myself to be very much so the same. Maybe not so much the same demeanour, hair cut and 16-year-old girl features (if so, I won't complain), but the "same" in the sense that my wardrobe will still consist of pieces that I've made a conscious effort to invest in for the past few years. The moment I pulled out this leather jacket was the moment I discovered how phenomenal my dad's sartorial choices were thirty years ago. As it lay hidden and tucked away in a closet somewhere in my house, I pulled it out realizing that the art of rummaging is really just an exhilarating chase for something great in which you may or may not discover a thing or two about the type of people your parents used to be. So, if you're ever looking to rethink your wardrobe, you could always rummage. And trust me, it's a heck of a lot better than going shopping.

A Winter Lookbook

A few weeks ago, I had a rather blurry idea that involved instax film, some winter garb, and maybe Eric. Fast forward to three weeks and 140 instax photos later, and I have finally uploaded the winter lookbook that has constantly been at the back of my mind, begging for clarity. It's always nerve-wracking when you're not sure what to expect out of a creative endeavour, but that's the beauty of creativity, I guess. You never know what to expect.
